Careful with that mic

By doctormeth

As you should’ve noticed (unless you’e really, really persistant in not reading my other posts) that I have a thing for music. Now having this “Thing” is not a side affect of being a teenager, while there are teens who use music as escapist crap or a way to do what they call (and this is someone’s actual words), “Individualizing your clique,” I see it as an art, and listen to it cause I like it. That aside, “musicians” these days (examples: Fallout Boy, Avril Levigne, (or however the dick you spell that smeely Canadian-Frenchy’s name) Solja Boy (boy indeed!) etc.) seem to have thought from the music they listened to was made for them(except for Soulja Boy, he didn’t ruin anything that weren’t already shit), made to be used by whiny fucking teenagers who think they need to escape from their “tragic nightmare of emotions” (again, someone’s own words) lives that they say is so bad cause they didn’t lose their virginity by age 12. Music they grew up on was made for the sake of the people that made it, Kurt Cobaine wasn’t worried about pleasing the audience when he put his heart into his words, the stage wasn’t a reitteration of High School for him, he didn’t need anyone’s exceptance to do what he did or do it so good. So why do these shit “artists” (more examples (I really wish there weren’t so many) Blink 182, Kate Perry, Scary Kids Scaring Kids) make it like the audience is more important then what they really want to say? Something about buisness that the people who abuse music like this don’t get is that even if you make something you like but the mainstream doesn’t, there will always be an audience for it; I mean, people (like me) liked punk and do you think Minor Threat was worried about getting on MTV when they made their music?

Bottom line, music should be made as a reflection of one’s self not of that person’s bad memories, teenage years, insecurities and especially not the audience. Atleast not all the time.
